Oh, thank you! I wasn't sure if this quote was saying we also needed emotions because they are what people use to fall in love and have and nurture babies (thus the "we would have been no more"). I think there needs to be a mix. Principles are essential for sure as emotions can be so fickle, however, it sure would be a boring world if everyone were emotionless robots. :)
Yes it would definitely be boring place (not that it is very exciting anyway), but if you truly analyse negative emotions, I cannot see what 'holds' them from spreading their effect, other than principles, morals, ethics etc.

I'm hating principles these days so I don't think my comment here would be appreciated. :p But I think people have changed the meaning of principles...it has turned into something very, very mundane!

I didn't quite follow the second sentence yet I want to understand what you are saying.
"It is the principles that hold the world and not emotions. Only if it wasn't, we would have been no more."
Principles hold together the world.
Emotions do not.
But "only if it wasn't" - 'it' meaning what? The principles, the emotions, the world?
Trying to see what you meant by this - thank you! :)
Hey Susanne, good to see you here. "It" refers to 'principles'.

'We' need to understand this thing. Emotions are good but would lead us to nowhere...
So true.
